JUNGFRAUJOCH

The Jungfraujoch is the most famous hiking destination in Switzerland: 3,454 meters! Whoever gets off at the highest station in Europe does not believe his eyes...

Itineraries:
Interlaken – Lauterbrunnen – Kleine Scheidegg – Jungfraujoch: distance 34 Km - duration 2h17
Jungfraujoch – Kleine Scheidegg – Grindelwald – Interlaken: distance 39 Km - duration 2h24

To complete the "complete" section, we start from Interlaken (567m):

The Bernese Oberland Railway connects Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald / Lauterbrunnen while the Wengernalpbahn connects Grindelwald / Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg (2061m).

The Jungfrau Railway, on the other hand, is a rack railway that from Kleine Scheidegg climbs up to the Jungfraujoch via the Eiger and the Mönch, overcoming an altitude difference of almost 1,400 meters over a distance of about 9 kilometers, of which about 7 are in a tunnel.

From Interlaken Ost to the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe you can therefore overcome a total altitude difference of 2887 meters covered in just over 2 hours!

Inside the Alpine peak called "Sphinx", at the highest railway station in Europe, an elevator takes you to the summit with the Observatory and the famous Belvedere terrace, from which you can enjoy the magnificent view of the mountains and the Aletsch. The Jungfrau and Aletsch Regions, characterized by unique flora and fauna, are the first area in the entire Alpine Region to be declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Other tourist attractions are the Ice Palace, the ski and snowboard park and the "Top of Europe" glacier restaurant.

Located in the center of Switzerland, in the heart of the Bernese Oberland, the Jungfrau region extends at the foot of the imposing Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau massifs, world-famous peaks. This area presents a varied natural landscape: from the lakes of Thun and Brienz to the alpine world of glaciers and snow-capped mountains with streams, waterfalls and unique flora and fauna.

Thanks to the Jungfrau Railways, these wonders of nature are easily accessible. Enjoy a journey by railways, cable cars or funiculars among lush green pastures, snow-capped peaks, extensive hiking areas and stunning panoramic views, a true paradise for all nature lovers and railway enthusiasts.
