CHUR AND THE BERNINA EXPRESS

With this program you will see the entire route of the Bernina Express Panoramic Train, from Tirano to Chur. You will make an exciting journey with the BERNINA EXPRESS on a total distance of 122 kilometers, passing 55 tunnels and 196 bridges on slopes up to 70 per thousand (without rack) up to an altitude of 2253 m.s.l.m. You will pass the famous Landwasser and Soliser viaducts as well as the Brusio helical viaduct.
You will visit Chur, which is the oldest Swiss city in the north of the Alps and still today is the center of a large region, as evidenced by the numerous museums, theaters and frequent cultural events.

The program includes a trip on the BERNINA EXPRESS along the Bernina and Albula lines from Tirano to Chur and the return on the next day. Two overnight stays in Chur are included.

The BERNINA EXPRES connects Tirano, in the Italian Valtellina, with Chur, in the canton of Grisons, passing through Pontresina.
On its way, the Bernina Express climbs up to 2253 meters above sea level and crosses 196 bridges and 55 tunnels along the way.
Sit back and relax. The train takes care of the rest. You will pass in front of the Basilica of the Madonna di Tirano, you will see the picturesque Poschiavo. You will breathe the scent of the woods, pass over bridges and viaducts, admire impervious gorges and wild streams. The train overcomes gradients of 70 per thousand, which is unique in the world.
Continuing, you will meet the Landwasser viaduct, famous for its 130 meters in length, as well as the impressive 89 meters high Soliser viaduct.
After this trip, you will not be surprised that the section of the Albula and Bernina Rhaetian Railway has belonged to the Unesco World Heritage since 2008.
